The workshop on SSE was conducted on November 2nd, 2022, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with 30 participants, from the six HNSEA country members, and guest speakers from the International Labour Organization (ILO), Asian Solidarity Economy Council (ASEC) and HomeNet International (HNI), both in person and online.
The objectives were to learn and confirm the SSE values and principles from the perspective and experiences of home-based workers, to learn the trends of SSE at the global level, to agree on strengthening SSE organising models of home-based worker organsiations and to advocate on SSE at the ASEAN regional level.
Realizing that SSE is a fair and proper economic unit for home-based workers, and that this model can provide rescue during times of crisis, HNSEA plans to:
- Train their members on the SSE principles
- Develop their models and practices
- Define SSE from their perspective
- Work further on policy and laws at the country levels
- Advocate for SSE at the ASEAN regional level
