The Covid-19 pandemic brought upon many challenges for home-based workers across the globe. Work was reduced significantly for most, supply chains were disrupted, raw materials became more expensive, therefore, making products pricier, production became more expensive, stores closed, making organisations struggle for survival.
HomeNet International hosted its first session on access to markets with affiliates on March 30, 2022. Examples of different models of organising and successful strategies used by affiliates during the pandemic were shared.
The second session of the Access to Markets webinar for HomeNet Africa took place on the 4th of August, 2022, with participants drawn from Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and South Africa. In attendance were representatives from HNI, WIEGO and invited guests from Zimbabwe and Ghana.
The second session of the Access to Markets webinar for HomeNet Southeast Asia took place on August 20th, 2022, with participants drawn from Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam. In attendance were representatives from HNI, WIEGO and invited guests from the Philippines and Kenya.
The second session of the Access to Markets webinar for COTRADO ALAC took place on September 8th, 2022. In attendance were participants from Latin America, HNI and WIEGO and invited guests from Undugu Fair Trade Ltd, ATEMDO Brazil and Sabah Nepal.
HomeNet International hosted its concluding webinar of the six-part webinar series on Access to Markets. It focused on the needs HNI affiliates have regarding access to markets for the products made by HBWs. It was also a planning session which provided focus areas for HNI’s Access to Markets Programme.
