Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is a delegated function-based structure of the HNI’s supreme governing body, the Executive Committee, which oversees all financial management affairs of the Organization in accordance with relevant laws, provisions of HNI Constitution and Policies.

What We Do

  • Provide strategic guidance on financial management aspects of the organization.
  • Guide and advise on financial management policies, risk management plan/strategy, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure that HNI operates within the financial guidelines set out in law, HNI Constitution and Policies.
  • Ensure accountability and sustainability of operations; ensure that the Organization’s financial obligations and funders’ conditions are met.
  • Establish and regularly review the organization’s remuneration policy, and as part of the budgeting and sustainability strategy, advise the Executive Committee on remuneration matters in general.
  • Present proposed budgets, periodic financial reports to the Executive Committee within set timelines.
  • Ensure maintenance of accounts and records; ensure that financial information is both accurate and presented in such a way that it facilitates good governance, leadership and management of HNI.
  • Guide and advise on joining, affiliation fees and changes thereto.
  • Act as an Audit & Assurance Committee during the year to ensure the due process is followed at all times, propose terms of reference and remuneration for external auditors as well as internal auditors for approval by the Executive Committee, facilitate them, and developing a suitable implementation plan for audit recommendations/management letter points.
  • Discharge any other special assignment, roles and responsibilities, as may be assigned by IWC/EC from time to time.

Committee Structure

  • The Committee will consist of an odd number of not less than 3 and not more than 7 members elected by majority of the Executive Committee.
  • The Committee includes at least one representative from each HNI region, drawn from either the Executive Committee or member organizations.
  • The Committee will be chaired by the Treasurer; the Secretary will normally be the International Coordinator / Interim Coordinator without voting rights.
  • Other members of the Secretariat / Senior Management Team shall attend and participate in FSC meetings as required by the Chair.
